Introduction and Acceptance
These Booking Terms govern all car rental reservations made through carpaphos.com and any related communications or agreements between you and Car Paphos, operating in Paphos, Cyprus. By completing a booking on this website, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms in full.
These terms apply to all rental categories available through our platform, including economy hatchbacks, automatic compacts, mid-size SUVs, 7-seater minivans, and premium vehicles. All rentals are subject to Cyprus road traffic law and applicable European Union regulations.
We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. The version published at the time of your booking confirmation is the binding version for your reservation. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not proceed with a booking.
Eligibility Requirements for Car Rental in Paphos
Minimum Age
The minimum age to rent a standard vehicle through carpaphos.com is 21 years. Drivers aged 21 to 24 may be subject to a young driver surcharge, which varies by vehicle category. For premium and luxury categories - including convertibles and full-size SUVs - the minimum age is 25 years.
Driving Licence Requirements
All drivers must hold a full, valid driving licence that has been held for a minimum of two years. European Union and United Kingdom licences are accepted without additional documentation. Drivers from outside the EU and UK must present their home-country licence accompanied by an International Driving Permit (IDP) issued in accordance with the 1968 Vienna Convention. Licences not printed in Latin characters must always be accompanied by a certified translation or IDP.
Additional Drivers
Additional drivers must meet the same eligibility requirements as the primary renter. All additional drivers must be registered at the time of vehicle pickup. An additional driver fee applies per person per day unless otherwise stated in your booking confirmation. Unregistered drivers are not covered under the vehicle insurance policy.
Identity Verification
At the time of vehicle pickup at Paphos Airport (PFO), hotel delivery, or any other agreed collection point, the primary driver must present the driving licence used at the time of booking along with a valid passport or national identity card. Failure to produce valid documentation may result in the reservation being cancelled without refund.
Reservations, Cancellations, and No-Show Policy
Making a Reservation
Reservations can be made online via carpaphos.com. A booking is confirmed once you receive a written confirmation email to the address provided during checkout. Same-day bookings are accepted subject to fleet availability and are confirmed within 30 minutes of submission.
Free Cancellation Policy
All bookings include free cancellation up to 48 hours before the scheduled pickup time. To cancel, contact us via email at [email protected] quoting your booking reference. Cancellations submitted within this window will receive a full refund to the original payment method within 5-10 business days.
Late Cancellation
Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the pickup time may incur a late cancellation fee equivalent to one day's rental charge for the booked vehicle category. This fee covers fleet management costs and lost reservation opportunity at busy periods such as Paphos peak summer season (June to September).
No-Show Policy
If you do not collect your vehicle within two hours of the agreed pickup time and have not contacted us to advise of a delay, the reservation may be treated as a no-show. No-show reservations are non-refundable. If your flight to Paphos Airport is delayed, please notify us as early as possible and we will hold the vehicle at no extra charge.
Modifications
Booking modifications, including changes to pickup dates, times, vehicle category, or pickup location, are accepted subject to availability. Modifications must be requested at least 24 hours before the original pickup time. Changes that result in a higher-category vehicle may require a price adjustment.
Pricing, Payment, and Optional Extras
Currency and Displayed Prices
All prices on carpaphos.com are displayed in Euros (EUR) and include VAT at the applicable Cyprus rate. Indicative daily rates are shown per calendar day; actual rental pricing is confirmed in your booking summary before payment is completed.
No Deposit and No Credit Card Requirement
We do not require a security deposit at the time of booking or vehicle pickup for standard rental categories. Payment is accepted by debit card or credit card. No pre-authorisation hold is placed on your card as a condition of booking. This policy applies to all standard reservations made through carpaphos.com.
What Is Included in the Rental Price
The standard rental rate includes Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) insurance, theft protection, unlimited mileage, and roadside assistance within Cyprus. Airport meet-and-greet at Paphos Airport is included for all direct bookings. Hotel delivery to Coral Bay, Kato Paphos, Geroskipou, and surrounding Paphos District areas is included for rentals of three or more days.
Optional Extras
The following optional extras are available and must be requested at the time of booking or no later than 24 hours before pickup:
- GPS navigation device - available per rental period
- Infant carrier (0-13 kg), forward-facing child seat (9-18 kg), and booster seat (15-36 kg) - available per rental period; free for rentals of 7 or more days
- Additional driver registration
- Full coverage upgrade (reduces excess to zero)
Fuel Policy
Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than at collection, a refuelling charge will apply at the local pump rate plus an administration fee. Misfuelling (filling a diesel vehicle with petrol or vice versa) is not covered by insurance and the renter is liable for all resulting repair costs.
Permitted and Prohibited Vehicle Use
Permitted Use
Rental vehicles may be used on all paved public roads throughout Cyprus, including routes to Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and the Troodos mountain roads. Vehicles are intended for personal use only.
Prohibited Activities
The following uses are strictly prohibited and will void all insurance coverage. The renter will bear full personal liability for any damage, loss, or legal consequences arising from:
- Off-road driving on unpaved tracks, beaches, or terrain not designated as a public road. Note: the track to Lara Beach in the Akamas Peninsula is classified as unpaved. Please select an appropriate vehicle category if you intend to drive this route.
- Participation in any racing, rallying, speed testing, or competitive driving event
- Sub-letting, hiring out, or otherwise transferring use of the vehicle to a third party
- Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs driving ability
- Use of the vehicle to tow or push any other vehicle or trailer without prior written consent
- Transporting the vehicle by sea or ferry without prior written consent
- Driving outside the Republic of Cyprus
Breaches of these conditions will result in the immediate termination of the rental agreement. The renter will be liable for all costs including recovery, repair, legal fees, and loss of fleet revenue during any repair period.
Insurance, Liability, and Excess
Standard Insurance Included
Every rental includes Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TP) as standard. Third-party liability insurance is provided in line with minimum Cyprus statutory requirements. Roadside assistance is included for breakdowns occurring on paved public roads within Cyprus.
Excess Amounts
Under the standard CDW policy, the renter remains liable for an excess amount in the event of damage or theft. Excess amounts vary by vehicle category and are confirmed in your booking summary. Economy and compact categories carry a lower excess than premium and luxury categories.
Full Coverage Upgrade
An optional full coverage upgrade is available at the time of booking, which reduces the renter's excess liability to zero for covered incidents. This upgrade does not cover damage caused by prohibited use, misfuelling, interior damage, tyre and wheel damage from road debris, or incidents where the driver was impaired.
Exclusions
The following are not covered under any insurance option offered through carpaphos.com: damage to the underside of the vehicle, damage to the roof, damage caused by off-road use, personal belongings left in the vehicle, and any incident caused by prohibited use as defined in the Vehicle Use section above.
Renter Responsibilities on Incident
In the event of any accident, theft, or damage, the renter must: notify the local police (dial 112) and obtain an official police report, contact us immediately at [email protected], and not admit liability to any third party. Failure to follow this procedure may invalidate insurance cover.
Limitation of Liability
carpaphos.com operates as a car rental platform connecting customers with rental services provided in the Paphos region. To the maximum extent permitted under applicable Cyprus and European Union law, Car Paphos shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use of a rental vehicle or from any failure or delay in service delivery beyond our reasonable control.
Our total aggregate liability to any renter for any claim arising under or in connection with a rental agreement shall not exceed the total rental charges paid by that renter for the specific booking to which the claim relates.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Booking Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Cyprus. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms, including any question regarding their existence, validity, or termination, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Paphos, Cyprus.
If you are a consumer resident in another EU member state, you retain the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence and to rely on mandatory consumer protection provisions applicable in your jurisdiction under EU law.
